Well, since Larkin assigned me the most boring part of the trip so far, I'll do my best to entertain.
We stumbled off the plane ready for a full night's rest and quickly found out that we had quite a different itinerary planned for us that day! We walked around Madrid like zombies, but still got to see some incredible sights. We saw the Royal Palace of Carlos III and successfully almost got thrown out for using our cameras. Who knew? We found a little pizza shop where we first got to practice our Spanish on our own and ordered some pizza and a kebap...couldn't get too crazy on our first Spanish food attempt!
That night we took a siesta then toured around the suburbs of Madrid where Penelope Cruz grew up! The next day we went to two museums and had our eye-full of paintings. We met up with Katie and Sean Kamperman who are traveling around Europe for a month! It was so great to see them!
That night we decided to go to the legendary dance club La Capital which was complete with seven stories, but the workers at the restaurant we went to before convinced us that it was for "kids" and that we should go to Shoko instead.....so of course we followed their advice. It was expensive but totally worth it and we had the night of our lives while we danced the night away to all american music (that's all they listen to over here). We eventually left and couldn't take the train back to our suburb until 6 so we headed for McDonald's which we were POSITIVE would be open all night like it is in america. We were wrong. We sat oustide like hobos and conversed with some locals for an hour before heading to the train station to make our way home. We made it back safe and sound and got 2 hours of sleep before hitting up another museum on our way out of the city to Denia.
We are currently in Denia now and it is the most beautiful place in the world! We had class this morning and promptly went out after lunch (which is at 2 p.m. by the way) to la playa (the beach) and stayed there for about 4 hours. We are just now getting settled in, and I have to go eat dinner, but we will update you more on Denia in a few days!
Adios!
Kelsey
peace out, madrid
Hola!
Well, since our last post I have clearly awoken from my siesta and accomplished many things. We made it to Dénia after one incredibly memorable night in Madrid, and six painstaking hours on Esteve, our charter bus, accompanied by blaring spanish techno music and uncomfortable seats... there are no words powerful enough at this time to express my hatred for sleeping on charter buses. no words.
currently i'm blaming my sunburn for my lack of motivation to continue... kelsey will update you on day #1 of Madrid, and more details to come later when i'm not so burnt out... I know someone out there enjoyed that joke.
hasta luego

July 10th
Hola!
Well we made it to Madrid and have had one of the most disorienting days you can imagine, but I suppose that is natural to expect with the overnight flight and extreme time change. We've been awake for 28 hours now, seeing as how neither of us slept very much on the flight. Actually, Larkin is enjoying a siesta as we speak. I have a feeling siestas are going to be the only thing to keep us going every day!
We will update later when there is more to tell!
Adios!
